The latest drawings, and a drawing style video, of the Abingdon Hydro are on view at abingdonhydro.co.uk. The project involves generating hydroelectric power from the Thames at Abingdon using two massive Archimedes screws.

LAPD Architects, at Culham Science Centre, produced the drawings. They will soon be producing a video with photographic images.

    They have said the power generated will be used locally so what could be more local than the Open Air Swimming Pool? It would be a great scheme to heat the water from the new turbines.

    Have to agree with Spike on that. The outdoor pool needs all the help it can get! I say get the meadows lit and a bandstand or something there so that people can make the most of being by the river.

    Rudi..So what would be wrong walking there in an evening in December? Its dark by 4.30 pm so lighting would be fantastic.

    I agree on getting some lighting down in the meadows. This project is a prime source. Lighting or not, kids always hang out down there, including myself back in my day. It’s a fantastic place that shouldn’t be neglected when it get’s dark. Make it inviting for everyone, maybe having outdoor events in the eveing?
