It will be interesting how long the union jacks remain. The ones in Stroll-in could remain for much of the summer with the Olympic Flame coming through Abingdon on Tuesday 10 July at 7:30am, and then the Olympics.
Helen and Douglas House have changed their Jubilee window to “Come On England”. England play their first game in the European Championships against France in the next 24 hours.
I have heard that the Olympic torchbearer coming through Abingdon is one of the 22 Americans flown in by Coca Cola to carry the torch. I do not know how true this is: Why could Coca Cola not have used British residents?. An American singer carried it through Taunton. How relevant was that?
It’s as relevant as the numbr of $s given as sponsorship I’d imagine. It’ll be much nicer if the torchbearer is a relatively local hero/heroine so here’s hoping.
Lovely coverage of the jubilee Backstreeter, made up for living somewhere where mentioning “bun-throwing” just get’s you daft looks – and this in the New Forest where they use livestock as rural traffic calming. Majestic!

We are getting three local people, one inspirational young non-local and his trainer/coach, one inspirational 16yo from the US, and the architect who envisioned the London Olympic park. Random, eh?
