In the window of the Abingdon Job Centre Plus – that is where people in Abingdon go to sign on every two weeks if they have not got a job in order to get what is called Job Seekers Allowance or Unemployment Benefit – there are pictures mixed with the job opportunities.
I think I got 3 of the 5 opportunities.
1. Office Clerk
2. ?
3. Road Maintenance
4. Surveying
5. ?
Can anybody help me with the last two – possibly painter and decorator and plumber.
How about 2 electrician and 5 plumber?
No, 2 is obviously a musical conductor and it would follow that no 5 is some sort of percussionist – though having travelling cases with them they must be a mobile vacancy – possibly busking, the sort of job opportunities that this government offer to graduates these days I understand. Is this some sort of preliminary filtering process? You can only apply for the job if you can work out the picture? I’d be good then, or is it some sort of comment about levels of literacy amongst the unfortunate/underserving* poor?
*delete according to political persuasion
2. Electrician (Ceiling light??)
5: Crematorium Worker.?
(small pile of ashes being piled and sifted on a counter top) 😉
Both have Tool Boxes and 2, appears to have either a ‘Bum Bag’ or Tool Belt.
number 2 is a public sector employee sticking his fingers up at the real workers of britain 🙂
For 2 obviously the need is for an electrical conductor.
Number 2 is a symphony orchestra conductor.
Number 5 is a bomb disposal expert.
Simples.
…I think you’ll find it’s a metaphor; for the job market being a shadow of what it once was…
