* (Left to right) Abingdon Major Duncan Grant and Deputy Major Alasdair Fear launch buns at last year’s royal wedding.

should say

* (Right to Left) Abingdon Mayor Duncan Brown and Councillor Martin Smith launch buns at last year’s royal wedding.

Once apon a time, Editors tended to be Graduates in English Language, not ‘Meeja-Studies’.
Just to be slightly pedantic: If you threw buns “at” a Royal wedding, would you be at risk of being thrown into the Tower ?

Their mistakes are also wrong – if by ‘Deputy Major Alasdair Fear’ they mean Alastair Fear. At least they got the occasion right.
