Two cleared vistas in Abingdon town centre – Thames Street and Bath Street

New Vistas
Along Thames Street all the trees that were growing out of the embankment have been cut back so there is now a much clearer view of the houses and the river.
New Vistas
The same can be said of the intersection of Bath Street and Stratton Way. The sensory garden with its scented rosemary and jasmine bushes have been cleared. Now you can see right through.

Had no idea that there was such a delightful-sounding place as a sensory garden in Abingdon town centre – just one of the many good things – big and small – about Abingdon that we learn from this blog. Hope very much that the sensory garden will be re-planted (and publicised )

Shame it looks so bare now, especially after the putting up of the sign (on the building with the red door), hacked through the supply branches and killed it off….

Col, lots of ground looks a bit bare right now but let’s look forward to the new planting and the smile that will bring to our faces.

The house with a Red door had a lovely 100 year old ‘Vine’ on it, when the sign was put up (the one above the black door), instead of moving the sign, or making box section, they hacked through two main branches and killed it. dead.

It looked lovely and the scent from the Sensory Garden really lovely. It cannot ever be replaced.

I doubt they will replace it, Phase 2, is the demolition of the Charters (to build a Supermarket!!) Underground Car Park as well (possibly).

I was encouraging you to look on the bright side, not to whinge more!

Perhaps if you don’t think anyone is going to plant anything in that bed it is time for some guerilla gardening?

You’ll be pleased to hear that the bed has been cleared ready for replanting by the town council. You should see lots of attractive bedding plants appearing shortly.

  7. cheats,

I rarely create comments, but after reading through a
few of the remarks on this page Abingdon Blog Two cleared vistas in Abingdon
town centre – Thames Street and Bath Street. I do have a couple of questions for you if
it’s allright. Could it be just me or do a few of these remarks look like they are left by brain dead individuals? 😛 And, if you are writing on other places, I would like to follow you. Could you post a list of every one of all your shared sites like your twitter feed, Facebook page or linkedin profile?
