Joy on getting New Trees

New Trees
Two new trees are being put in to replace the cherry trees that were cut down last year as part of the County Hall re-development.

“Tree felling upsets town” was the headline in the Abingdon Herald.

The new trees look better than the Cherry trees they have replaced so it looks like a good swap to me. They have fine white blossoms and are tall and slender and much better suited to the tight space. They could also be cherries but I’m not sure.

Gato’s message is an advertisment or a scam And I agree it has no place on this wonderful site. Shame on you Gato.

Yes we get enough of unwanted spam emails/messages.

Anyway I have heard that the Urban Warrier is trying to put a bit of colour in the bland uninteresting landscape of South Abingdon by planting spring bulbs in verges etc. We should bring trees etc into the town landscape. We only have to go out into the country and the pretty villiages to realise what can be done.

60 more trees will be planted as part of the jubilee celebrations too. The town council are looking for suggestions on areas where people would like trees planted – any specific suggestions?

We could do with trees to camouflage the science park buildings from the riverside walks.

Another place to plant trees would be alongside the A34 where we can see lorries thundering past all the time. A quieter road surface would also help as now the A34 is often incredibly noisy.

Pat, I have put forward your suggestion for trees to the Town Council to consider.

    Anyone else have any ideas?
