Despite threats of rain the weather kept dry. It was a squeeze getting along Ock Street with all the crowds. Just a few pictures of some of the rides.

Fantastic pics as always. Nice to see the tradition of the fair continuing. I first went in 1973 aged 5. We had friends who lived so close to the big wheel that riders could see into their bathroom!
I no longer live in Abingdon but visit family there regularly. Thanks to checking out This Abingdon daily I often know more about what's going on than my dad just up the Radley Road. Keep up the good work!
This street fair is an anachronism in the 21st century – it originally had a great social purpose – to help locals secure work over the winter months in an era when people used horse and carts and walked. Now we have masses of diesel fumes, nitrous oxide and particulates dumped in the centre of town by both the diesel lorries used to provide the ‘entertainment’ and all the traffic that is diverted because of the fair. With current traffic lights on Abingdon Bridge I predict total gridlock. When is someone going to see sense and move this fair to a site that is more appropriate? And monitor all the pollution and inconvenience caused to the people who live in Abingdon? I would like to see local democracy at work and get the Council ask the people and local businesses if they still want a fun fair that has nothing to do with the original reason for which the Royal Charter was granted and which causes so much damage to the environment
