Peter Wiblin has left his old shop behind – probably because it is one of the units Scottish Widows will soon be redeveloping.
And he has opened up a new shop where Thorntons used to be – as Abingdon News plus. He seemed pleased with the move, and is no longer so near W H Smiths.
Good Luck to Peter!. The shop looks so much brighter and welcoming. Don’t spoil the look with all the “flyers” that festooned the windows of the previous shop.
I have mixed feelings about the flyers – agree they made it look tatty but it was a useful source of info about events for those who can’t access the various online diaries: much more comprehensive – and centrally located – than any of the official noticeboards.
We are hoping that Scottish Widows will incorporate a modern-style “noticeboard” in the redesigned Shopping Centre….
Good luck Peter! Hope today’s free parking in Abingdon brings in the crowds to see the new shop…
I agree with Hester. It was like a lucky dip of local info! However – it didn’t really draw me into the shop
Good luck, though we still miss him at the West End – and that title is now history, unfortuneately. Perhaps there’s less room for those porn-type mags and rags; more room for the Oldie??
Shop looks great. Best of luck Peter!
I still miss the original West End News on the corner of Spring & Exborne rds too. Best wishes for the new shop though.
i used to use the spring road shop for posting off my ebay sellings – he always had a resigned look on his face on the mondays i would arrive with about 25 items to weigh and send – ha!
