Quench – Six Months on in Abingdon

In November 2009 it was announced that with the exception of 100 or so stores that were sold as going concerns all of the remaining stores of First Quench Retailing Limited were to cease trading. That included two “The Local” Off Licences and one “Thresher” Off Licence in Abingdon.
Londis Vineyard
Londis has recently opened on the Vineyard and is the first ex-Quench shop to re-open. Well done to them and thanks to Jones who told me they were coming. They are just by the bus stop.
Off Licence Ock Street
The Local on Ock Street is currently being fitted as an Off Licence – name yet to be revealed. Also near a bus stop.

The ex Threshers on Peachcroft has planning permission to be turned into a licensed betting office. To be continued.

Two things: – unless I misread it, this new store is called ‘Londis Vineyards’ (with an s), and secondly, wasn’t it a Londis in the High St, that became Bargain Booze and then closed down? I hope the new shop is more successful, despite the name!
