New maps coming – New noticeboards needed

New Town Maps
One of the new town maps has appeared at Rye Farm Car Park. On the left it features pictures, by Scooter Mckenzie, of well known buildings in Abingdon, with descriptions.

In this new series of maps, each map will have a different centre depending on where it is located.

Meanwhile, the map board near the Market Place has turned into a noticeboard and has just a mini map for now. A central What’s On noticeboard is much needed in Abingdon.

I see from it that Comedy Abingdon have their second event – an improvised comedy evening – Saturday at 19:30 at the Guildhall – featuring Abingdon’s own Kevin Tomlinson and friends.

I moved to Hong Kong on my own just over a year ago. I look at this site everyday to keep in touch with all things Abingdon and keep the “missing home” pains away. Keep the great Photo’s and updates coming!

I almost choked on my brandy when I saw the preposterous waste of taxpayers money on these totally unnecessary boards. Having settled in abingdon since I retired from the army , I for one don’t need out of perspective drawings (by an artist whom I understand to be a northerner of questionable habits) to navigate my way round my daily trips to this glorious towns many splendid charity shops. Also would such noticeboards only encourage the work shy riff raff that already overrun this Saxon town. Grateful for small mercies, perhaps the out of perspective maps should swiftly see them lost on the town’s boundaries searching for a 300ft church steeple. Yours,

Ah, The Red Kite strikes again. As the artist behind these maps, I would like to pinpoint one of the many inaccuracies in the comment above:
I am NOT a ‘northerner of questionable habits.’
I am a Midlander of questionable habits.
