We had heavy rain today. We had 10.75 mm of rain, and about half of that fell between 1:30 and 1:45 pm. That may not sound remarkable until you consider that we had just 0.2 mm throughout the whole of July.
The Local Excellence Market went ahead. But the Goldwing Treffen club didn’t go ahead with the 5 pm multinational ride-through Abingdon. There were still some people who turned up to watch, and they cheered when a delivery motorcycle went past.
Otherwise, we got something unheard-of for this summer: puddles.
And there was a lot more about 2:30 – 3 pm. I’m surprised there was only 10 mm. in all.

As far as I can see, it just collects the same “check for flooding” data from the Environment Agency website, but allows you you to view the data over a much longer time period.
…and Thames Water have been actively discharging raw sewage in to the Thames through Oxfordshire during this period. 👍
My weather station, located 1/2 mile due north of the sewage works, recorded 12.1mm of rain on Saturday,
8mm fell in that short period after 1:30pm at a rate of 28.8mm per hour. Just 1.2mm has fallen so far on Sunday, tea time . This month the station has recorded 32.4mm of rain , all of it falling since the 19th.
Shame about the Goldwings, pleased that we caught them departing the rugby club on Friday.
