Ben says: “Following last week’s invasion, concrete barriers have now appeared at all the entrances — and on one of the paths, possibly to prevent a pincer movement on the bowls club.”
I won’t show all of Ben’s pictures. Revealing the full defence plan would only help an invader’s reconnaissance.
The barriers show the park is taking security seriously. But who would have thought that 13 caravans and a collection of other vehicles would seriously consider taking over a public park during a school holiday?
The travellers dont go to school so why would a school holiday impact them?!
Also handily positioned to keep out undesirables with pushchairs and mobility aids.
I assume this is a temporary measure but couldn’t someone just drive through/remove the hedge if they wanted? Unless there are trees all the way round. I do understand you probably can’t remove all risk if someone is determined enough.
Sorry David but I am one of the undesirables with a mobility aid, a small scooter and having checked it is going to be very difficult for me to get into the park now. It will also affect mothers with a larger buggy and those in wheelchairs. It is a great shame that because it hasn’t been thought through properly but done too quickly the park won’t be accessible to some of the people it is supposed to benefit.
