I was surprised not once but twice on going through the Tesco car park yesterday.
A Britain’s Got Talent bus had arrived as part of a promotional tour celebrating 30 years of Tesco Clubcard, which sponsors the show. Visitors had a chance to win tickets to the Britain’s Got Talent final and other Clubcard souvenirs.
On the same side of the carpark, recent clearing has revealed drainage ditches, forming what looks like a moat around an island of trees. None of this was visible before.
The Tesco Moat has been dug since the last flood. Hopefully, it’ll be large enough to give some respite to Chaunterell Way and nearby streets when the floods return in the future.
It looks just like the site of the medieval castle of the Norman knight Guillaume de Tesqueaux, who came over with William the Conqueror. Maybe the archaeologists should investigate?
Love it, honey! You trim a few bushes and—bam!—we’re back in 1066. Sir Guillaume de Tesqueaux must’ve known we’d find him eventually and name a Grand Provisions Hall after him.
That’s right. His motto was “Chaque Petit Aide!”.
