War Memorial reopened

War Memorial reopened
The war memorial area has been reopened and the area around looks bright and clean in the early May sunshine. The memorial has been stabilised and cleaned, and the surrounding area improved.

The paviors look to have completed their work to a high standard of work, better than the usual work we get in Abingdon – we’re *still* waiting for a replacement bin to be put on Ock Street, by the taxi rank so that Bulldog, Big Dave, That Fat Bloke and all the others can properly dispose of their litter instead of just chucking it out of their taxi windows – but why did the Town Council have to get rid of the pretty flower beds ? Instead we’ve got the hanging basket stands which look a bit like empty crucifixes.

I agree that it looks really nice. Let’s just hope and pray that the usual Abingdon moron doesn’t decide that it would be improved with grafitti

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years contemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
    We will remember them.

Lovely job – well done to all concerned. Next task (apart from the shopping centre of course) should be the “triangle” at the Stratton Way end of Bath Street – I know that discussions are in hand about that – lets hope they don’t take too long – and that money can be found to do it.

It does look brilliant. I do not know who on the (former) town council was responsible, but they deserve a pint.
