I’m back after a couple of days away and missed the Waitrose 30th birthday celebrations when there were balloons.
There is still a board where people can leave their favourite memories.
I remember the Kugel Fountain in the original entrance/exit (now just the exit.) Children and some adults would spin the round stone as it aquaplaned on a film of water.
It’s sad how the ball has just been dumped outside broken now.
At first I misread and thought they’d got it wrong, for I was there at the opening of Waitrose in Coulsdon, Surrey in 1971, but of course, then realised it was Abingdon W’rose’s 30th anniversary. I am always enticed to spend more than I anticipate inside…
