Voting in local elections – first time with photo ID.

These elections decide Abingdon-on-Thames Town Council and the Vale of White Horse District Council. Four years ago, the Lib-Dems won 18 town council seats, and the Greens 1. On the Vale, it was Liberal Democrats – 31, Conservative – 6, Green – 1.

They’ll be counting the votes on Friday, 5 May 2023. You can follow the results via Twitter – @valevotes.

I’d like to know why the polling station in Caldecott Ward was moved from the St John’s Ambulance station in Caldecott Road (where it’s been for years and years) all the way to Abingdon RFC in Lambrick Way. I have never seen a polling station so quiet as the rugby club was yesterday. I wonder how many people didn’t cast their vote because of the journey they’d have had to make in order to do that.
