Ex-MOD homes with energy efficient features

Annington Homes are in the business of refurbishment and re-development for rental or sale of affordable ex-MOD homes. Some of the houses they have on offer at Lamborough Fields, on the edge of Abingdon in Shippon, have been fitted with solar panels and electric vehicle chargers. They have also been refurbished to give them an EPC rating of B to keep the energy bills down.

Thank you to Kyle for the press release.

Wouldn’t it be nice if these properties, which were built and paid for by the state (i.e us) were used for social housing, so continuing to help the lower-paid, rather than either sold off to people who can then later make a profit on them, or used for private rental.

Whatever next?! Next thing, we’ll be selling off Council houses and not allowing Councils to use the proceeds for new housing.

    Oh, we’ve done that already…

Did anyone catch the girl singing in the Market Place this morning? Just superb, if Carlsberg did buskers she’d be what they’d make. Even though I needed to be somewhere I felt compelled to stop and listen.

On a different note, as the town centre is to be speed restricted to make it safer and more peaceful could a sound camera be installed in Stert Street and High Street to catch the drivers and riders who insist on making as much noise as possible with modified exhaust systems. At times both day and night there are vehicles around being driven in such a way as to cause the maximum possible noise pollution which I believe needs to be policed in some way. The centre of Abingdon in no way resembles the streets of Monaco on a Grand Prix weekend so these people need to be reminded to shut up or sod off.
