Drainage Lake and Sound Barrier

NewHouses
Development continues on the other new estate, Abbey Fields. It is separated from Kings Gate by the Tilsley Park sports facility with an athletics track and all-weather sports pitches.

The view from Tilsley Park makes Abbey Fields look picturesque with the new drainage lake in the foreground. There has been a lot of rain recently, and this could be less of a lake during the summer.
NewHouses
Abbey Fields borders the A34, and between houses and the road is a mound of earth topped by a fence to form a sound barrier.

Where the mound ends, the fence is about twenty feet tall.

As other parts of the country large new estates are being built with no infrastructure. There is to be no extra G P surgery to service the new estates in Abingdon. I have heard that there may be a satalite arrangement by an existing surgery. The UK has had the largest population growth surpassing France and Italy. Public services have not been increased to cope with the growth in population.

I can’t understand why new homes aren’t being built with a rainwater harvesting system. The technology isn’t new. I installed a 1500 litre underground tank when I had a kitchen extension in 2008 and cut my water bills and mains usage by 50%. The rainwater is used automatically for flushing loos and for washing machine. In directly it probably reduces the number of raw sewage spills into our rivers.
