Abbott of Abingdon + Abandonment + Smarts

The Abbott of Abingdon fell over a few weeks ago and is still down. The Abbott was once sponsored by the Abbey Press and has had no sponsor in recent years.

Abingdon Drama Club is producing a play, Abandonment, by Kate Atkinson, up to the weekend.

Smarts the Peachcroft fish and chip shop has closed.

I would think that one of the many businesses in Abingdon could take over the sponsorship of the Abbott. What is the town council doing about it? Could they not find another sponsor. There seems to be a lack of energy in Abingdon.

Just throw it in the Woodchiper in the market square along with all the Christmas trees in January. The eyesore is more useful as woodchips for paving the Thames path

Quite right Janet the Town Council own the Abbott as part of the Britain In Bloom competition which the no longer enter. I phoned and told them the Abbott needed taking away or reinstalled but nothing happened. It adds to the general lack of caring for our streets and roundabouts.

It would be rather apt if someone could persuade Abbott (the healthcare and research company) to sponsor the Abbot and roundabout.

Apparently Abingdon Town Council is not bothered about our Monk the oxfordshire Highways are responsible for roundabouts and they surely don’t care that Abingdon looks tatty and uncaring. Yet we have councillors who serve town and county and they can’t be bothered either.
