presumably the cuts haven’t made their way to our area!
either that or they think the people who live there have too much peace and quiet and require gangs of teenagers to start hanging around to keep them awake at night

normally your comments are amusing but why are you so negative about this? Isnt it a good thing that money can still be spent on our youngsters and fitness? Do you really think this equipment will incourage a gang culture?? seing as it is in a play park with a football pitch etc im presuming it is an area you would expect youths to use or would you prefer they hang around on the street? Come on “the color climax corporation” tell us what your getting at?

So maybe installing some equipment aimed more at their age group is a good idea then? If they cant hang around in a recreation area and be noisy then where can they? Its hardly a anything new or much of a problem is it? I very much doubt that this equipment cost 46k maybe that is what has been spent all over the area? I stand corrected if you can show me where you got this info but to be honest what is 46k for something different than paving slabs or tarmac for a change? I should think our local authorities spend a hell of a lot more just trying to please the complainers of the town. The kids dont complain, far from it. They use the playgrounds and equipment intensely day after day so in my eyes that is value for money whatever the cost as it was only very recently that the swings i used to play on disapeared! But lets not forget that this equipment is for our use aswell so maybe you will get something from it the color climax corporation??? p.s i just copy n pasted your name into google. You dirty bugger you!!!!

can i just say- not all teenagers hang around in gangs. and not all of us are antisocial, intent apon annoying the older generations.
i think this is a good idea, because it gives people a place to go, for fun and exercise. i would use it if i knew where it was!
if there were more places for teenagers to go and hang around, most of us would use that place. the teens that use the younger children’s playground-yes, i think its wrong, but thats because there really arent that many places in abingdon to go. we get complained to when at Albert Park, the Abbey is always full of little kids in nice weather, so some do end up ‘loitering’.
im sorry if this sounds rude, or anything, but it is a good idea, and im fed up of being steriotyped into being an antisocial, loud teen, just because of my age.

OIn the whole, well said Jenny. But, re Albert Park, if teenagers could stop dropping litter everywhere it’s make the whole place nicer – and stop moaning adults like me complaining!

It is the case that some teenagers behave badly, but most don’t, and there is no reason at all why they shouldn’t hang out together.

It does cause a problem when they hang out in play areas that are meant to be for younger children, so the answer, surely, is to provide places for them to hang out too.

This new equipment seem one way to do that and we should also look at having more ‘youth shelters’ and similar sited far enough away from adjacent properties but near enough to be seen and safe.

Out of all the parks in Abingdon, why did they pick that one.. I thought it would made more sense to install it in a more active area.
