Puntastic Aldi framework erected in circus field

The framework of the new Aldi store has been erected in the field once known as the Circus Field – so named because it was previously a circus and funfair venue.

The Aldi framework was erected as quickly as a big circus top. But will not be coming down. Aldi has stolen the show and there will be no more circuses or funfairs. They killed them off by going straight for the juggler, and I don’t think we can claim for funfair dismissal. So, there is no point in going there anymore as a trapese artist. They would just let you go. However, in the cheese department, you might get some stilton.

With the cost of living going through the roof we need plenty of competition in Abingdon. An Aldi is welcome.

Amazing. Anything to increase the traffic congestion in that part of the town. When are they going to sort out the roads. The traffic on the northern ring road is already knackered.

I think you’ll find Geoffrey, that if you stand and actually watch the traffic in those roads then most of the time, the vast majority in fact, the traffic is an absolute non-issue, flows freely etc.

The times for this are generally and most obvious between 8pm and 7am. With the absolute prime time for non-traffic being between 1 and 4am.

Of course, don’t take my word for it…pay a consultant to come up with the same information?

We live in Abingdon – the traffic may be a bit irritating at times but seriously – it’s just not that bad. Get out and about if you want to see proper traffic problems!

Is it the same if you’re waiting for a hip replacement? I’ll be sure to tell my nan that “she’s part of the problem”.

The NHS would be amazing, if it wasn’t for all the sick people.

No Daniel, it isn’t the same. If you need a hip replacement you can’t switch to an appendectomy or a manicure, but if you’re using a car you could walk, or bicycle, or take a bus, or travel at a different time of day or by a different route.

Morrismac – that is a very simplistic argument. Given the constraints (limits routes around abingdon, one way system etc), work requirements (start and finish times), childcare requirements (getting to nurseries, schools) and the fact that a certain group of people on here are always complaining about lack of cycling infrastructure people do not have much choice about what routes or times they use.

I see morrismac. Let me see if I understand correctly…

Please don’t go skiing and inflicting knee injuries on yourself, as there’s a waiting list for elderly people’s knee surgery already? “Ban skiing to save the NHS”?
