What was just a concept, a drawing on paper, has become a reality as the builders took over today from the architects and planners. Scaffolding is being erected, and earth cleared where the liftshaft will be dug.

I wonder if they will find anything interesting excavating for the (whats the opposite of Lift??)
Drops down below pavement level only??
It’s still a ‘lift’, they just put it in upside down.
Normal lift design – they just use Australian manufactired components.
“Top” marked “Bottom” (to avoid confusion !)
The word shaft springs to mind. Another is ramp. It is not a lift it will be operated using hydraulics, obviously from underneath and it ‘resting’ position will be at the top, that is, pavement level.
