At Abingdon Weir

At Abingdon Weir
Into February and upstream from Abingdon Weir the water looks so still.
At Abingdon Weir
With the sun just above the horizon the River Thames appears like a looking glass. Slowly the water approaches the barrier …

then cascades over at Abingdon Weir.

I wonder if the hydro electric scheme/plan will be implemented….

So we have a little film work that is taken during high water, for 8 months of the year the thames do not flow, three corkscrews and apprx three years work’against a piece of history that is over 3 hundred years old. Yes but it green, rubbish it will spoil the ecololgy of the weir ruining swawning grounds for fish the haven for the wild birds that run just behind the abbey less flow than we have nowfish bing killed by the screws as thats been proved, all to service aprox 200 houses and don’t forget heating bills are excluded and the way seasons are changing you will have elec inspring so there are little facts to say it is viable .America mostley do theres on the massive damm’s so ask your self greens i wonder what deodrant you all use no doubt it’s spray close all pubs and brewers that will stop some more pollution don’t forget get rid of cows as well because of the methan that they blow so think again before your hot air pollutes us humans and find a realistic way of harnising power. leave the fish, voles shrew, coots ,moorhens, grebes ,and otters alone, and leave the history of the weir alone.
