Walking round the town centre this afternoon I noticed two new restaurants and a pop up wedding shop.
In High Street, Que Pasa will be openings as a Spanish Tapas bar and Mediterranean Restaurant and wine bar .
Al Mulino will be a takeaway pizzeria in Bath Street.
In Bury Street is The One Stop Wedding Shop – a pop up shop. Some weddings have been put on hold because of the restriction on numbers, but not all.
P.S. 1 Stert Street, The ex TSB bank, is getting painted.
The new Tapas restaurant looks nice, however it’s a shame if this affects The Lounge Cafe in Bath Street which is authentic for one and friendly secondly. Whilst I’m sure there is room for two, I’d hate something new to kill off something that has been around a long time and run by such a nice family.
I don’t think it will be competing, as Que Pasa also says on the window that it’s a “wine bar”. This would make it quite a different type of environment than the Lounge Cafe. It may complement the Tipsy Mercer next door which doesn’t currently serve any food.
Sorry to hijack, but when did the co-op on West St Helens open?
I am looking forward to the new eateries…there’s an interesting selection in Abingdon!
Strange question, Daniel! It took a bit of digging, but I found it – January 2009. https://www.heraldseries.co.uk/news/4071356.abingdon-shoppers-celebrate-opening-of-new-co-op-store-incorporating-the-towns-main-post-office/
Though, of course, there was a Co-Op on that site for many years before.
