Pillar Box Red

Pillar Box Red
Each 1st day of the month is the “Theme Day” of the City Daily Photo Community, and September’s Theme is Red.

The cylindrical design of the British pillar box first appeared in 1879, and has changed very little since. Pillar boxes (or post boxes) are almost all red. Just a few were painted gold after the Olympics held in London in 2012 to celebrate local Olympic gold medallists.

As an aside, has anyone else noticed the CCTV/face recognition camera as you exit The Old Gaol permissive path toward The Broad Face?

    Is this legal?

Because of some “issues” we had we installed cctv and there are a few golden rules,
1, any area, public of not, where cctv is being used must display signage to that effect, if not the operator is breaking the law!
2, Data Protection act only covers business and commercial, not the general public.
3, anyone is entitled to use cctv in the course of protecting their property (and the term property covers possessions, cars, boats, gardens, garages etc.)
4, you can use cctv and store the footage if its in the course of protecting your property, however, if the cctv newcomer refers to is gathering footage from the highway or viewing across the road at other properties then the local police are obliged (once complained to) to go and inspect the cameras to make sure they only record images appertaining to the protection of their property.
All of that said the rules are very ambiguous

I think it’s important that the residents of The Gaol Estate are being monitored…you wouldn’t want them just wondering anywhere in town…
