In planning Heritage Day it is good to try and find a couple of different properties each year so people who come every year have something new to look at. One such property this year was Helensbourne. And I am very grateful to them for so readily agreeing to open up and then going above and beyond on the day. These views of the River Thames have not been seen by many of us before,

but the fortunate owners of the house can look out on them any day.

However this shows something of how precarious the supporting structures of these mediaeval houses can be.
