I got this e-mail today from Keir: ‘My Barton Court cache has been published :’ http://www.geocaching.com/
There are various other geo caches in the central Abingdon area as seen on the map.
‘Geocaching (pronounced geo-cashing) is a worldwide game of hiding and seeking treasure. A geocacher can place a geocache in the world, pinpoint its location using GPS technology and then share the geocache’s existence and location online. Anyone with a GPS device can then try to locate the geocache… ‘
Why am I not surprised that the Charming Man still his Commodore 64? I confess to still having an Oric Atmos and an Acorn Electron gathering dust in a drawer!
hahaha. I do hope so
Will these things plug into my Commodore 64?
You can now get a geocaching application for the iphone, which (if you have an iphone) is tons cheaper than buying a GPS unit, and makes geocaching very simple.
I recommend in Abingdon "Mr Kent's Cache"
Another similar thing is GPS Mission. See http://gpsmission.com/.
You can create missions, which are a series of locations with questions and clues. There is also virtual gold to collect on the way. I was thinking that the Heritage day quiz could be converted into a GPS Mission.
This runs on many mobile phones and PDAs which have integrated GPS or with an attached bluetooth GPS device, including iPhone, Nokia series 60's.
