More Hot Air coming to Abingdon

Hot Air
A Hot Air Balloon drifted over Abingdon-on-Thames this evening.
Hot Air
There are a lot of caravans and camper vans at Abingdon Vale Cricket Ground – enjoying the riverside location, and the town of Abingdon a short walk away.
Hot Air
There are also lots of boats out in the sunshine by the River Thames.

People who chose a summer holiday in the UK are having some wonderful weather this year. According to the newspapers, Spain and Portugal could be about to record the highest ever temperature for Europe.
Hot Air
Some of that hot air will blow this way.

Today is St Ethelwold’s Day. He was a great reformer of monasticism in the 10th century and re-established Abingdon Abbey.

Thank you for that PPJS, you know one of the things I cherish most about this blog is Backstreeter’s suttke reminders of our Christian heritage.
Last week I attended the St Nich’s school leavers service at St Helens, (PPJS I think you were expected to read a sermon?) but when the person down to read the sermon didn’t show it fell to the head, Mr Spooner, to improvise as replacement. His sermon was both refreshing and reassuring, he sent his flock of leavers on their way with a sound and convincing speach on how our Christian valus and scriptures will be the foundation of their journey to come !

Horsesmouth; not I (possibly Fr Paul Smith). I wish school leavers at all levels a fulfilling and enjoyable life of learning.

A level results are published next Thursday and GCSEs the following week. There are advantages to being older – one is not having public examinations shaping my future (what’s left of it!)
