Fish and Chips to return to Abingdon town centre

Singin in the Rain
There has been no Fish and Chips in Abingdon town centre since the Lemon Place and then Smarts closed.

Fish and Chips is a great British Institution, that has taken a battering over the last 40 years with the arrival of pizza, burgers, and kebabs. There will be Abingdon Fish & Chips, where the Chinese Kitchen closed last year. The new blue sign went up last week along with the pictures of Cod and Plaice and Scampi.

  1. I know what I like

Can I suggest that we (the people of Abingdon) treat the owners to an all expenses paid trip to sample the wares of the wetherby whaler (in Wetherby, Yorkshire) and Brian’s (in Headingly, Leeds) so that they know how fish and chips should be? I haven’t had an acceptable lot of fish and chips in Abingdon since Ruddocks closed.

Yes, Abingdon needs a fish and chip shop in central Abingdon which must include a sit down restrant also. Abingdon has far to many coffee shops.

    Oh my cod!

Looking forward to trying this out. Hoping they have a bit more of an upper market offering than Salami’s, with some prawns etc.

I don’t have a problem with them, but sometimes I want my F&C a bit more taste and a bit less grease.

    Welcome to the town!
