Collette wrote a week or so ago to say there a new Italian restaurant opened in Reynolds Way (Gainsborough Green area). She says “ It’s called Forno. We decided to try it out at lunchtime and were very impressed. It’s a no frills looking place but is clean. The people who run it (a young Albanian couple) are friendly and the food was very good indeed – nice fresh – great pizza base. It’s also good value. Their website is Forno Abingdon .”
Not far away work has begun on the ex Saxton Arms. The most recent plans were to turn it into flats after the idea of more shops got rejected.
I am very careful now about take aways etc. I look on the scores on the doors web site. I have heard on the news that planning permission is again being sought for the proposed reservior at Steventon. This reservior is to serve London. I do not see why we should have to suffer the extra lorries and obstructed views locally to serve London. There are plenty of more suitable sites nearer London. For instance there are numerous gravel pits etc that could be utilized.
Janet, i am a convert. Like you, i would, and did, initially oppose this. But….if it didn’t happen, then we’ll likely get a new town there – or even airport! The one thing it absolutely won’t remain is green rolling fields.
With that in mind, the leisure facilities it may bring, as well as the bribery of flood defence for Abingdon, a reservoir is the best of a bad bunch….
Something is going to happen there…. the question is what might you dislike least…?
Is Forno replacing the Indian restaurant that was there? If so that was short lived but lovely food…
I hope nobody changes the F to a P… might suggest something entirely different is on the menu 🙂
