Artwork for Charity, and Circus Field Complete with Circus

Spring Exhibition
Cancer Research UK had their own art exhibition on Saturday morning. Their art work was on display outside the shop to raise money for the cause.

They did a good trade, and the one of the Old Gaol went very quickly.

Also on Saturday I took some pictures of the Circus Field next to Wootton Road – complete with circus for posterity.

The Circus Field is in the local plan for development. Circuses also sometimes use the Ladygrove Meadow off Drayton Road.

For “Public consultation” read “Forgone Conclusion/Waste of time”
The deals have already been done….the lack of infrastructure once again ignored, (as will the public be), the diamond interchange won’t be built, the A34 won’t be upgraded (definitely not when houses will be built metres away from it!), and you only need to see the traffic queues for miles around in all directions to see the resulting chaos that one lorry fire on a slip road caused tonight.

I have heard that as well as the 950 homes planned for North Abingdon planning permission has been applied for a further 110 homes to the left of Tilsey Park. I agree with Julian the A34 diamond interchange will not be built.

I wouldn’t like to live in one of these houses: think of the noise and pollution levels from the A34. Bad enough half a mile away but right at the bottom of your garden- ?

Could you enjoy a sunny August afternoon if, metres away, you had a queue of cars and lorries pumping out NOX etc as well as their drivers gawping at you from above ?

well, given that a proportion of the houses will be required to be ‘socia/affordablel’ housing, which ones do you think will be next to the a34….

heck they might even build the ones they ‘owe’ from the gaol complex there.

As I’ve said a dozen times, that lodgehill interchange isnt going to get built until they’ve made the lorry park and ride on the other side of the A34, so OCC can sell off Redbridge P&R for more housing.

In the meantime Abingdon will continue to grind to a halt of blocked roads and oversubscribed amenities. 🙁

Perhaps the previous posters could put their “sharp elbows” and obvious intellect/wisdom to better use by writing to our MP rather than venting via a nice pleasant blog? Thanks!

I did that steven; i understand she wrote “a strongly worded email”…and the planning (it related to) still went through.

Personally, i have no greater intellect, nor wisdom, than anyone else. Just plenty of beleaguered frustration and experience. If you have faith still, i envy you…but you have a long way to go.

I enjoy this great blog as much as you do. If it helps…the flowers look lovely, and at least twice in the past few weeks the market place has been quite bustly. Brilliant. Everything is brilliant.

Ah don’t be modest Daniel, I know talent when I see it, if the MP route didn’t work have you thought of putting your appreciation for all things floral to good use? Perhaps see if Homebase could take you on as an adviser? Let us know how you get on!
