Wet – Theme Day

10 years ago there was a flood in Abingdon – described by the Environment Agency as a 1 in 200 year event. Heavy rain on the clay soils of the River Ock catchment led – within about 36 hours – to many houses in Abingdon being flooded.

There has also been an interesting exhibition in the Community Space – to be featured on tomorrow’s blog – showing what the environment agency has been doing to counter future flooding.

Apologies for highjacking this thread but I’ve just been told the Peachcroft community centre is closing because the landlord, Radley College? Has imposed a Huge rent rise!
Any one have any thoughts or info?

Captain K – not quite, it’s just the Social Club is closing (due to a downturn in custom). As far as I know the Community Centre will continue to operate, including the Pre-School that uses it.
