Patisserie Pascal gone for good

Patisserie Pascal
We have been spoilt over the last eight or nine years having the wonderful Patisserie Pascal just up the road. Pascal retired a few months ago and new owners took over, but they have not managed to continue the success. They closed a few days ago, and the shop will re-open as a different sort of retailer. Good luck to the new venture.

Now twice a victim of the referendum I suspect. Maybe for different reasons but I know many non UK EU itizens preparing to move on in the foreseeable future and about some who left already.

I agree. However, the new owners were on a hiding to nothing. Pascal’s products were very special and I always felt that using his name without his pastries was a very risky strategy. It is a shame because the new owners worked hard at what they did.

It is a shame to loose an independent retailer, but the drop in quality when the new owner took over was huge.

I don’t blame them, as Pascal made some amazing stuff. Easily the best I’ve had outside of France. When they sold, I was genuinely upset that I’d never get to have another of his ham and cheese croissants.

I have heard rumours that it will continue to a food related retailer so that could be interesting.

Well maybe we should have supported the new owners more and they would have had chance to modify their products, if necessary.
I personally thought their cakes etc were still very good and, at the very least, superior to anything else on offer in the town. I used to pop in for a coffee and snack often, and continued to shop there. If we want to keep the independent retailers we have to give them our custom.
I am sad that this shop has closed. They were very nice people and worked hard.

Let me guess its will either be a coffee shop, a Turkish barber or an estate agents. Just what Abingdon needs

Chris John – Those premises were home for many years to a ladies hair salon pre-dating many of the present rash of hairdressers in Abingdon.

Just rereading my post led me to muse over what the name for a group of Hairdressers would be… a bunch… a gathering… a beehive… a Seville? In our case I guess it’s just ‘an annoyance of barbers’.
