Three Church Fairs

Three Church Fairs
There were three church fairs near Abingdon town centre this morning. St Helens had a Christmas Market with stalls in the St Katherine Aisle and a long table of books right down the middle.

At Abingdon Baptist Church there was a Christmas Fayre where Father Christmas could be seen in a grotto, and Readitdaddy and Readitdaughter were selling some excellent Children’s books for a good cause.

At Trinity, where I go, we had a Christmas Fair. The toy stall was particularly interesting with a fort, old wooden game of table skittles, and some stilts, run by the scouts.

Many thanks also for coming along to the Baptist Church Christmas Fayre (and purchasing a book – and (gulp) letting us sign it!) We raised a grand total of £213 just from our stall so a huge thanks to everyone who came along!

Slight digression from the topic, but I see that this year there is free parking in Abingdon car parks every Saturday from now to Christmas – so plenty of opportunity to do your Christmas shopping locally. And before the cry goes up that there is nothing to buy in Abingdon, here are some suggestions: books (2 shops), general gifts/ornaments/pictures (3), lingerie, unusual goodies, pottery etc, fantasy games and models – and craft supplies to make your own gifts. And that is just the independents!
And – with apologies to the Abingdon shopkeepers – if that is not enough you could also check out the independents in Wantage where parking is also free on Saturdays in December (not this Saturday). NB they’re not better – just different!
