The Cross Keys is currently being renovated and turned into 6 one bedroom properties, prices from £190,000.
Work on the Saxton Arms has not yet begun.
The ex pubs in Abingdon must be considered small beer by developers.
There will be an exhibition of outline planning for 900 new houses in North Abingdon on Tuesday 19th July, 5 – 8pm, Tilsey Park, Dunmore Road.
How marvellous.
Is the Saxton going to be houses now then?
I don’t like the developments in areas that don’t have the infrastructure to support it. However, if you are going to develop then I am glad to see the Cross Keys is 1 bed places. They keep saying about people struggling to get on the ladder, but all they build is 3-4 and 5 bed over priced houses!
£190k is still very expensive, but at least there is a chance this might help people to get their first place.
Hopefully some young people will get a chance to buy these properties now that the tax situation has changed for landlords. I won’t hold by breath though . . . .
good luck persuading someone to pay to live in saxton road.
I assume the hole in the wall to the right of the Saxton Arms picture is where the Morland Brewery artist was mounted, has someone chiselled that out of the wall or did Greene King remove it, would be nice if our museum had one to display relating to industry and businesses once located here.
I find comments about where to live in Abingdon outrageous,as a parent of a single person I would love to see my child buying a place anywhere here instead of having to pay exorbitant rent.
