Abingdon Beds have been operating for over twenty five years at their current location in Spring Road. The building was once a chapel.
The Tower of London has been operating for over 1000 years, looking after famous and infamous prisoners. It is the keep of the Crown Jewels, and more recently has become a tourist attraction.
Spike recently moved from Abingdon to become the newest Yeoman Warder at the Tower of London. Thank to him for this picture ‘Keeping it Local!’
Congratulations, Spike!
What is the link between Abingdon Beds and Spike? Congratulations Spike
Spike worked at Abingdon Beds perhaps.
Family ‘connection’ with Abingdon Beds. Back in 1976, Dad ordered furniture at a Brixton Furnishing company – delivery to Oxford store {Times furnishing}. for the new council house in Abingdon. Visited Oxford to finalise, they sold carpet . So arranged carpets throughout before /furniture delivery. Years later visted Abingdon beds, Manager remembered the address, laid the carpets in the whole house way back in 1976.in previous job. “Indeed a small world”
To answer the connection question..I’ve lived and still own a house, in Abingdon since ’81 and our son Luke was an Abingdon School boy.
My family has used Abingdon Beds for many years – customer service is second to none.
Congrats Spike! I too can thoroughly recommend Abingdon Beds.. We’ve used them for the past 20 years. Great customer service, and good prices too. Beats going to the bigger companies!
Great company, lovely service. My only gripe is the lorries delivering to them always park on Spring Road causing big tail backs.
Yes – it’s not their fault but it’s not a great location for a commercial premises in terms of taking deliveries. Same problem when they’re loading up in Exbourne Road.
Keeping it local is a good plan, I did this morning by using the car accessories store just up the Oxford Road, I have previously used Abingdon Beds, do it today because otherwise we’ll just end up with a load of branded chain stores or no store at all…. pity we have no proper local record shop nowadays Haken & Bell anyone?
