Today saw the second Abingdon Food and Drink Festival, at The Miele Centre, in Abingdon, – any where else would have been a compromise.
The event was organised by The Rotary Club of Abingdon Vesper. Money raised supports their charity work, and that of SeeSaw – who provide grief support for children and young people.
Added Ingredients, from Stert Street, Abingdon, had two tasting sessions for Portugese wine and cheese, and one for Italian wine and cheese. They also had a stall. Like lots of the stalls the atmosphere was very relaxed, a chance to try samples, and buy if you liked.
There were 45 stalls in all – I believe.
BBC Radio Oxford were also there, and you could look round the amazing Miele Experience Centre, watch chef demonstrations …
or sit on their lawn and eat and drink and listen to the entertainment. Pictured are Seth Bye and Katie Griffin.
Problem. Not enough VISIBLE signs in town so some could not find the food festival.
There were lots of signs coming in from Marcham direction but many were small and not very noticeable.
On a different topic, has anyone heard that a sale is near completion on 65 Oxford Road? Perhaps building work may start soon – it’s 18 months since the original house was demolished.
Fiona – 65 Oxford Road was sold to Cranbourne Homes about 6-7 years ago and it was them who obtained the planning permission for two modern-looking houses, on the condition that all the mature trees would be retained – then cleared the site. Are you saying that it is being sold on?
Hester
I understand that it is being sold on. I’ll see if I can find out more.
If you enjoyed Seth and Katie at the Food and Drink festival you can catch them again in Abingdon at the Unicorn Theatre on 25th June when they are supporting The August List.Tickets available from Remade Guitars in Coxeter House or from http://www.musicattheunicorn.org.uk/
