Open Air Pool Opens Today – Good Friday

Open Air Pool Opens
The Hinksey Outdoor Pool, off the Abingdon Road in Oxford, was open for the first time this morning from 8am. The water was lovely and warm and there were lots of swimmers taking advantage of this first chance for an open air swim in 2015. You would hardly notice it was raining.

The Friends of The Outdoor Pool have run a good campaign and got lots of publicity. With just a few days left they are now in the final push to try to secure the future of the Abingdon Outdoor Pool. IF GLL, the new pool operator, can run the pool as well as Fusion run the Hinksey Outdoor Pool then it will have a great future.

But if you can’t wait until then, details of the Hinksey Outdoor Pool can be found on their facebook page.

What a great chance to gobble up a few tasty swimmers! But it’s a long swim up to Hinksey so I look forward to the Abingdon Pool opening. When does it open?

Vale website doesn’t say (can we read anything in to that?) but it is usually the late May Bank Holiday.

You’re such a polite chap, backstreeter. You’d never think to point out what a waste of space the Vale Cabinet are … so I will.

Great swim today where was Nessie? Too geriatric to make it?

Thanks for the tip off Backstreeter. It was as warm as you said! Just bought my season ticket, costing 42 p per swim if you go daily (juniors and geriatrics) and 85p a swim for adults. That’s with the special deal available until 12 April, good value if you swim at least four or five times a month.
