50 days until the election – UKIP Common Sense Tour Bus visits Abingdon

Common Sense Tour Bus
Just 50 days until the election and the UKIP Common Sense Tour bus visited Abingdon town centre early on Sunday morning.
Common Sense Tour Bus
Their local candidate Alan Harris was on board.

UKIP, the UK Independence Party, want the UK to leave the EU. They did very well in the European Elections last year, and it will be interesting to see how well they do in the national elections.

We don’t need a ukip mp hear thank you, so don’t for him as you will be binning your vote ie wasting your vote.

Why would voting for a candidate with whom you agree be wasting your vote? This is the argument for tactical voting which aims to keep someone out than see another in.

There will be voters who vote tactically and vote for Fred in order to stop Jim when really they agree with Mary. Does this improve the situation?

Others will vote for Mary and then be sorry to learn that she wasn’t elected because those who would otherwise have voted for her were too opposed to Jim to be in favour of Mary. That, too, may be binning your vote…

None of the above is any indication of how I shall vote in May!

voting isn’t about trying to vote for who you think the winner will be – it’s choosing the person whose policies most closely match your own beliefs.

People will vote for UKIP as they believe that they have been let down by the main political parties. Councils are cutting services for the elderly and vulnerable in this country whilst the government throws taxpayers money at the EU and foreign aid. We have a crisis in the health service, housing and education and yet we accept more immigrants than any other E U country. In Oxford they have no social housing so sending families to Coventry or they loose their place on the housing list. No other political party will address these issues.

….if they wanted people to see, it would have made a little more sense to have visited at any time, other than a Sunday morning…(it’ll be different when my weekly Sunday market’s here though…)

So far, my vote’s for Mary!

Sorry – I know we are all trying to be non-party political here but “UKIP” and “Common Sense” in the same slogan always makes me smile!

Councils, councillors and common sense have never met.

If you vote UKIP maybe you should think about your moral code…

The party of white lower-middle class men.

The party of racists, bigots, homophobobes and loonies.

    Vote UKIP at your peril.

Janet, if you think UKIP will address these issues, you are in cloud-cuckoo land.

UKIP are a one policy party, represented by bigots, racists and homophobes.

If you think voting for a party of bigots will sort all your problems out, go for it. But I would rather vote for a party that has principles and is represented by decent people with morals.

They were in Town for the time it took me to have a shower. I watched it pull up in the Market Place and it was gone 10 minutes later, after I had my said shower. Told to get off the double yellows, more than likely……..

Must admit if I saw it, I would have told them we dont like your sort of folk round ‘ere. You are not from these parts.

Although i imagine the irony would be lost on them.

If you want to vote “against the system” then there are some more well meaning types available. They tend to wear green and not purple. Not quite as good at soundbites, but at least they mean well, and their policies somewhat less batty.

@Janet, no idea why you think UKIP want to save the NHS. Whilst they are deliberately not publishing any policies, the indication are that they are even further right than the Cons. Their main thrust is low taxes and low gov spending, and people pay their way. They are the individual, not the many.

Are Canada and Australia nations of homophobes and bigots? They have managed immigration. You have to have a job, be healthy and have money to emigrate to these countries. I take it none of you have tried to get social housing lin this country lately. I believe passionately that the NHS should not be privatised. How can profit making companies run the NHS for less? UKIP does have a health policy it was published recently.

In the past maybe, but now, the voting list gets longer and longer, wish to save the NHS theres an Ap (sorry Party), for that. Last year I tried voting for an Independant, see if my vote would count. It appeared to fail, so few votes. Something I have not heard for a long time ‘Lost their Deposit’.Parties/individuals don’t get enough votes to stay.

I’m not necessarily a fan of ukip, but a quick Google will bring up an abundance of ‘sex’ scandals, or under age something or other etc etc for the conservatives, labour and the lib dems. Then of course there ate a great swathe of ‘other’ moral dilemmas they all get themselves into. If you are voting along “moral principles”…. I’d be fascinated to know who you intend to vote for?

There are some truely abhorrent people out there….and some of them are politicians.

Hi Daniel. Yes you are right about so called declared morals. I worked for the Home Office in the tendering department. We had strict rules we were not even allowed to accept a calendar. At the same time the Home Office minister was accepting all types of freebees from having his garden completely landscaped by a property company and many more. There are no morals in politics.

I suspect the visit of the UKIP campaign bus was more of a photo-op for the local candidate than any serious attempt to campaign in Abingdon, therefore it is not surprising that the bus was only there for a few minutes.

But expect a lot of photos of the bus in UKIP leaflets.

…as well as other photo-ops for other candidates in other parties for their leaflets too, no doubt. Just saying’.

Not many people on their bus…. obviously they confused Abingdon with their power base in run down scabby old seaside towns full of xenophobic pensioners and village idiots upset about not being able to get a job picking spuds or packing chickens because someone who doesn’t even speak the language too well is better qualified than them. Bunch of saddos.

Most of the offensive and horrendous wannabe politicians, are UKIP.

A quick ‘Google’ and you’ll find out why. Also their policies and their leader justify their actions. Other parties have leaders and policies that are more respectful of say, homosexuals, than UKIP.

What are you doing about it Daniel? I hope you are responding to the Oxfordshire Transport Strategy which will put a park and ride on Lodge Hill, something that will probably lay waste all the fields on the right of the Abingdon to Sunningwell Bridleway. Well that is to say after you have passed through the vast housing estates in the Green Belt, that will flank that Bridleway between Dunmore Road and the A34.

I agree with UKIPs policy on Immigration purely because something has to be done, we can’t keep allowing everyone in from the EU regardless. I like the fact we are multi cultural and I am not anti immigration as I think its a good thing. I just think it needs to be controlled better, similar to Australia
