We woke to the first snow of the winter.
Schools broke up for the Christmas break – some children even came home at midday.
It was cold for those on the Farmers Market.
Thanks to John E for these last two pictures. These are the Church in Abingdon Carol Singers. They shocked bystanders by singing “While Shephers Watched Their Flocks” to the original tune – “On Ilkley Moor bar t’at“.
And if anybody does want to hear 'While Shepherd's Watched' to the 'Ilkley Moor Baht'at' tune come to Trinty at 10:00 on Sunday 20th. A small group of us – The Trinity Choir Renegades – will be singing it, and some other little known carol's, before the service.
..collecting for Christian Aid.
i thought the promised snow for us was a terrible anti-climax – certainly not enough for a snowman – barely a snowball.
On Ilkley Moor Baht 'at! I never realised this was the original tune. Been trying to figure out how the words would fit into the tune and not doing too well! Would love to have heard it – might start googling to see if I can find a version and put myself out of my misery 🙂
