Pryce & Co Solicitors that closed in 2007 (6 to 8 East St.Helen street) finally work has started. It will be converted back to two buildings, one comprising 3 Flats and the building closer to the Kings head will be put back to a house. I have a picture that I will try and send of the original look of the two units. Its a slight shame to loose the commercial element of the buildings but you cant have everything. Thanks for adding me to the map. Business is great and love being in the centre m good luck to all the new business :). Sa

Thanks Backstreeter – this annual factual update is always really useful. Having been around various towns in the UK and elsewhere over the last year it is clear that Abingdon is by no means worse off than many other places. I am also struck by the number of really nice town centre pubs we now have – and especially the music venues – that is a real improvement over recent years.

Here’s hoping for a prosperous new year for our traders – and success for those who work so hard to organise the events and entertainment which make this a good place to live; it is down to us to support them to enable them to thrive.

And thanks to Backstreeter for all he does to promote the town: keep up the good work. Happy New Year to you all.

Abingdon is a failing town for shops end of story . We were promised amazing shops back in xmas 2012 here we are two years later still no amazing shops . i went through Abingdon xmas eve the town had tumble weeds it was a ghost town . I think it was the first time i ever been through Abingdon with no traffic the reason , simple everyone was shopping elsewhere . The Abingdon people say we need this shop and that shop when you get it you dont use it so it closes fact !!!! The only shops is coffee or estate agents or hairdressers . Greedy landlords greedy councils and lack of loyalty from Abingdon people . The town is failing so councils are subsidising with more housing , Great more traffic and less shops well done

To ab dingnuff: I opened a small shop in East Saint Helen Street, and local support has meant I was able to move to a larger shop in West Saint Helen Street. Don’t be too pessimistic about the town.

To backstreeter: I too enjoy reading your interesting contributions.

To whoever did the plan: my shop name seems to have changed!
