New Town Shopping Map Launched

New Town Map launch
A new online map of Abingdon’s shops and businesses was launched today by the Abingdon Chamber of Commerce. (Sorry about the glare which means you can see the people at the launch and not the map itself.)

The young lad on the right is the web guru who made it all work, and the familiar face on the left, who runs Goffs the newsagents, did most of the data entry. I think they were working through the night to get it ready for today’s launch.

On the map you just click on a box to bring up the details. I clicked on E & R Goff in this example.

I remember the old map of abingdon which had buttons and lit up. it was on a wall next to an old sweet shop called the chocolate box (near stert street crossing by st nicholas church). Anyone else remember this old map? this must be going back to the 70s`

i didn’t pay to be on this map, a pity really because there are two mistakes concerning my entry, one i don’t do hair and two i pretty much retired last christmas, though i do have lots of people coming to me for the CAB, which the other town maps think i do,it’ll be great when they just leave me alone.
