The window at The Beaconsfield has been hidden behind scaffolding for almost a year. The Beaconsfield Working Mens Conservative Club once occupied part of this building.
The window has been transformed.
The Earl of Beaconsfield, the Marquess of Salisbury and Sir Stafford Northcote look much the same as before.
Are the glazing bars a little heavier than the Georgians would have used? And is modern white a colour that is appropriate to a Georgian style of building. I suppose they must be since the planners let it through.
“Marquess of Salisbury and Sir Stafford Northcote look much the same as before”
Had thay taken the opportunity to give those busts a clean while the scaffolding was so long in place, it would have diverted the eye from the raw new window frame. They could then mellow together.
Pops – your faith in VOWH ‘Planners’ whilst laudable….is entirely misplaced!
