On Missing the Regatta

Water
One event I usually cover is the annual Abingdon Head of the River Regatta. This crew were not involved.

They are just catching their breath after a training run .

On Sunday, I walked Harry round South Abingdon in the morning before church,  then in the afternoon we both took him beside a shallow stream and through some woods in Steventon.

We saw our first ducklings of the year there. Returning about 5 PM I noticed from St Helens Wharf  crowds of cars further along the river and realised it was Regatta Day. Lots of pictures of that though at Big Blade. But no pictures of Abingdon Rowing Club crews who are too busy organising the event.

Hesher’s Geffings gone

Hesher's Geffings
The notices around Radley Lakes about the Hesher’s Geffings have been removed by the Earth Trust (formerly Northmoor Trust). The notices first appeared around April 1st. Does anybody know any more about the Hesher’s Geffings and their origins?

Albert Park fun day

Bunny Hunt
Yesterday in the Albert Park there was a fun day with face painting and a bunny hunt organised by the Abingdon Vineyard Church. Three of the helpers dressed up as bunnies and went and hid. When children had found all three (with tokens to prove it), they could collect a chocolate egg. The event was so popular the organisers ran out of eggs, and eggs are to be dispatched after the event to those who missed out.
