Cloud Making in Abingdon

Cloud Making
The smoke free life van is a regular visitor to Abingdon Market Place. They offer free sessions, as well as a free supply of Nicotine Replacement Therapy.
Cloud Making
Our local Oxford Vapours shop will also help switch you from cigarettes to vaping where you can start with the same amount of nicotine as your cigarettes and then reduce.

18mg – The highest strength that we stock (highest legal strength is 20mg, though it is now uncommon) is recommended for anyone smoking 20 or more cigarettes a day.

It should be everyone’s aim to reduce their nicotine strength to the lowest dosage possible.
Cloud Making
When you get down to a 3mg or a 0mg dosage you can still make bigger clouds than was ever possible with cigarettes – in lots of different flavours.

Happy Christmas from Kingfisher Canoe Club

This is from Dave
Happy Christmas
We haven’t got a site any more or a riverside store but we are not dead yet. Far from it!!! Kingfisher Canoe Club managed to get 33 boats and equipment to the river to maintain the tradition of the Christmas Mince Pie Paddle All ages circuit through the lock. They met up with Richard and the team at the lock and then went round by Swift Ditch.
Happy Christmas
We are still hoping for good news from the VWHDC (Vale of White Horse District Council). There could be no better Christmas present, but it hasn’t arrived yet, and so the campaign continues.

Thanks to all who supported us by signing the petition (some 1200+ to date). Happy Christmas to all and thanks to all who have and continue to support us.

People’s Ballot: NHS Not TRIDENT

Thanks to Sally for this short piece about the NHS v TRIDENT Abingdon People’s Ballot that took place on Monday. Sally said …
Stop Trident
We had a good morning, the market place was busy although the market itself seemed a bit thinner than usual.

The consensus of those who voted in our “people’s ballot” was to spend the £100 billion on Health and Education rather than on Trident….

Many people didn’t even know what Trident is, much less that we, the taxpayer, spend over £5000 per minute on it… Some people still seem to think we need it for “deterrence”. Although who it is supposed to “deter” and from doing what, is not clear.

Trident is the UK’s nuclear deterrent with missiles on 4 submarines. The next parliament could take the decision to replace it with an updated Trident.

Veil falls on Abbey Meadows Consultation

Purdah draws a Veil
The Vale of White Horse District Council’s Abbey Meadows Consultation ends at Midnight.

Only option A, and not B or C, sees a future for the Outdoor Pool. The result won’t be known until after the election as we are now into election Purdah – meaning veil or curtain – which prevents councils from making revealing pronouncements.
Purdah draws a Veil
It was the lead officer, David Buckle, rather than a politician, who came out to receive a petition of over 2300+ signatures, organised by Naomi, to Save the Pool.
Purdah draws a Veil
The Oxford Mail / Abingdon Herald were there to take pictures of the campaigners and the petition.
Purdah draws a Veil
As the 38 Degrees Petition already contains over 500 signatures, David Buckle said, it will be discussed by the next Vale District Council, whatever it colour.
