At St Nicolas Church in Abingdon this morning between 10am and noon there was a Big Brew, organised by the church Traidcraft Group as part of FairTrade fortnight.

There was a bright start to March 1st (St David’s Day). People were enjoying the outdoor seating at Java&Co in the Market Place, and other Abingdon coffee houses, albeit still wrapped up warm.

February’s theme for City Daily Photo is ENTRY …

Above the door of Old Abbey House is the victorian epigram: “Through this wide open gate, none come too early; none returns too late.”

This building has been the offices of Abingdon Town Council for some years. But with the Town Council moving to the Guildhall, the future use of this building and its public gardens are unknown.

Will the Vale of White Horse District Council, who own the building, ensure public entry to the gardens?

Yesterday after the parade, at the Christmas Extravaganza, the Town Crier climbed the stairs of the County Hall, looked out across the Market Square,

rang his bell, and then made a proclamation about the day’s festivities on behalf of the Mayor.

March Theme Day for City Daily Photo is Cafe Chairs.

Until last summer Skinny Hippo, on The Square in Abingdon, had a craft gifts area and a creative area. Nowadays Skinny Hippo has a cafe area. with some very pretty tables and chairs, as well as a creative craft area. There are still a few gifts on walls and shelves.
