It is goodbye (Sunday 23rd December 2018) to Rosie’s Tea Room after eight years of good tea and scone service to the people of Abingdon, and visitors. Rosie’s Tea Room took over the premises in West St Helen Street previously used by Frugal Food.

It was not just a tea room but also provided evening entertainment such as knit and natter, pudding nights, and small performances without a microphone. The current proprietors were planning to hand over Rosie’s tea pots to somebody else but it appears the landlord has another better offer for the premises to become a restaurant.

The Bistro re-opened last Saturday on Bath Street with new owners and bright sunny paint. They serve Portuguese food and coffee, and have rooms above for people to stay in. They also do English, Continental, and Brazilian breakfasts.

A new hair dressing salon called Wisteria Avenue opened last Saturday in Abingdon.

It is in the same premises that once housed Local Roots in East St Helen Street.

This is also the same premises that houses the little basement museum – a very interesting place to visit if you ever get the chance.
