
Beyond Bubbles recently opened in Stert Street selling soaps and bath products – much of it with the label ‘Made in Abingdon.’ It is the shop with the big bath duck in the window .

New Skinny Hippo Craft Shop

Skinny Hippo has opened where cherries used to be in Bath Street. The shop offers a mixture of gifts including some fair trade and some made from recycled material.

There is also a craft area where children of any age can create, and plenty of room for a children’s party. I think when they were trying to think of a name for the shop – as a family – one of the children drew a particularly scrawny looking hippopotamus … Skinny Hippo!
On Sunday there will be an opening eventĀ starting at 11 ending about 4.
Mostly Gervase Phinn

Mostly Books have been responsible for many celebrities coming to Abingdon, in recent years. Tonight Gervase Phinn – best selling author, raconteur and Yorkshireman – spoke to a packed Guildhall. He also spoke to most individuals coming into or out of the hall as that is where the book signing table was set.
New Saturday Local Excellence Market

The first quarter-yearly Local excellence Market was on the Market Place today. It has food, drink, and crafts and is sponsored by Choose Abingdon and the Abingdon Carbon Cutters.

It is good to see a new Saturday Market established.

There were good crowds whenever I went by. People were also attracted into town by the Craft Fair – also on this weekend at the Old Abbey Buildings
