Olympic Torch draws the crowds again

Olympic Torch
This morning, there was a crowd outside Cancer Research UK where people had the chance to hold one of the Olympic torches. The torches are still doing the rounds as Team GB exceed our expectations. Team GB won three Gold Medals on the first major evening of track finals. Team GB also won a cycling gold and two rowing golds.

But despite all those amazing golds, one things did not change: Team GB lost in the football on penalties.

Big 750 Mile Bike Ride for Charity and for Dad

Thanks to Helen for this story …
CMA Bike Ride
“My husband (from Abingdon) and brother-in-law are undertaking a 750-mile bike ride in memory of their Dad. They are raising funds for the Cardiomyopathy Association (CMA) – a charity that supports sufferers of degenerative heart disease and their families – as well as commemorating their father (who died from cardiomyopathy aged 64 in December) by passing through his favourite places and scattering his ashes in places of particular significance.
CMA Bike Ride
They have taken along their Dad’s restored 1956 split screen Morris Minor as their ‘support vehicle’ (although travelling 750 miles in that will be a feat in itself!).

The schedule for the ride is as follows:

23rd July Glencoe to Balloch
24th July Balloch to Ayr
25th July Ayr to Annan
26th July Annan to Middleton-in-Teesdale
27th July Middleton-in-Teesdale to Threshfield
28th July Thresfield to Holmfirth
29th July Holmfirth toTutbury nr Burton upon Trent
30th July Tutbury to Shrawley nr Droitwich
31st July Shrawley to Stow-on-the-Wold
1st August Stow-on-the-Wold to Marlborough (passing through Abingdon en route!)
2nd August Marlborough to Shaftesbury
3rd August Shaftesbury to Bournemouth

You can follow the ride and all its ups and downs on the CMA Bike Ride blog.”
