Back to normal traffic patterns after the fair

Suprisingly, being so near, we hear very little noise from the fair. We heard far more when we lived on Tithe Farm – which is some distance away.

During the days of the fair, West St Helen Street becomes an oasis of calm – with no through traffic.  But this morning, with the fair cleared, it was back to normal traffic patterns.

(Heyfordian have taken over running the Abingdon Town bus service from Whites Coaches and their orange and white coach is a frequent sight.)

New Bus Shelter on Marcham Road

A new bus shelter has been put in along Marcham Road. It is a good advertising space .

This is a joint cycle and footway but it does get very narrow round the top corner. The kerb there is also two or three times the height of a normal kerb.The task was made more difficult because a nearby tree has a preservation order.

On Thursday at 7 PM, County Council representatives are coming to the Guildhall to talk to and listen to the people of Abingdon about the third Local Transport Plan – covering 2011 to 2031.

The picture shows the view of the A34 looking South from Lodge Hill. This is where two additional slip lanes would be added if a full diamond interchange did happen.

A full interchange at Lodge Hill could well make things better for Abingdon. In any case go along and have your say if you feel strongly enough.
